British Open 2019: Tiger Woods struggles to 7-over 78 in opening round

first_imgThe Masters champion’s struggles started right away on his opening hole where his shot drifted into the thick rough on the left of the fairway. He had a double bogey at the par-three sixth as his shot went roughly 15 yards too far. His second shot caught a slope and rolled off the opposite side, marking where his day went from bad to worse as he finished the hole 3 over for the day.  Tiger Woods had a difficult time getting anything going in the first round of the British Open on Thursday as he started his bid for a 16th major title.Woods was among the favorites entering the tournament, but finished his opening round near the bottom of the leaderboard — 12 shots back of early clubhouse leader J.
