Barrett #16 of the Ohio State Buckeyes looks on against the Wisconsin Badgers during the Big Ten Championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium on December 2, 2017 in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images)Earlier Tuesday, college football insider Brett McMurphy reported Urban Meyer helped “cover up” another incident involving former Buckeyes assistant coach Zach Smith.According to the report, Smith berated a former player with racial language. The player eventually transferred from the Buckeyes’ program. In the hours since the report dropped, several players and family members of players have come out against the accusations. Multiple players who were there when the alleged incident took place denied a “racially-charged” altercation took place. One former player’s mother is now weighing in on the report. Former Ohio State star J.T. Barrett’s mother said the coaches, Urban Meyer and athletic director Gene Smith would not “tolerate that sh*t.!”Here’s her full statement.I had to take a minute to respond to this BS on my TL! Cause I’m that type of Mama Bear ?! Like I would stand for my son to live 5 yrs in that kind of environment! Like other parents, Coaches, Urban, Gene or Drake would tolerate that shit! ??‍♀️ Boy Bye!— Stacy Joubert Barrett (@StacyB42) November 13, 2018Clearly there’s a disconnect between the reporting of Brett McMurphy and the opinions of players and parents in the know. Urban Meyer revealed this afternoon that the university is considering legal action against McMurphy.Stay tuned.last_img
