Geek Pick Volante Design AugmentH2 Hoodie

first_imgStay on target It’s time for more fashion-forward nerd outerwear with Volante Design’s Superhuman Streetwear! This time we’re looking at some modern-day assassin gear with the Augment-H2 hoodie. It’s a hooded sweatshirt, and it looks great.Volante Design sent us the Freerunner version, a heather gray hoodie with black accents and thread. It’s also available in Black Garnet, Gilded Carbon, Onyx (black with red/red, black/gold, or blue/blue accents and thread), and Red Steel (gray with burgundy accents and read thread). Once again, these are tasteful, muted color schemes that have just the right amount of flair with different accents and threads. Not too flashy, but you can still get more personality from it than your average hoodie. The Augment-H2 hoodie is cyberpunk-inspired, clearly invoking Deus Ex along with Assassin’s Creed (because all hoodies can be Assassin’s Creed hoodies). Distinct, angular accents run across the chest symmetrically and up the back asymmetrically, giving as futuristic a look as you can get without putting hexagons everywhere. This is a thick hoodie (thick, not thicc), featuring double layers of material around the torso and hood and single layers of fabric along the arms. The 97/3 cotton/spandex fabric is very sturdy and has just enough give, and unlike every other hoodie I’ve worn doesn’t seem prone to pilling; the double layer keeps the “outside” of the material on the inside, and even the “inside” material on the arms is very even and smooth rather than fuzzy.Like the Hacker Jacket, the quality and craft of the Augment-H2 hoodie is fantastic. It’s made by hand in the United States, and it shows in the workmanship. The stitches are firm and even, with no signs of fraying. The hoodie’s seams go beyond the standard garment pattern to reinforce and strengthen the structure with stitching over the accents and with additional stitching used as separate accents, bringing out the contrast between the thread and the material. The fabric is also spun and dyed in the U.S., and is pre-shrunk and pre-washed so you don’t have to break it in or worry about it shifting after a few wears. All of this quality costs, though; the Augment-H2 hoodie is $165, which is definitely expensive for any hoodie. But I can say that this is the best-made, sturdiest, and one of the most comfortable hoodies I’ve ever worn, and that includes the $95 Scottevest Hoodie. If you want style and sturdy quality, it’s worth the investment. If you want more fashion, we’ve got loads of Gundam shirts, Sega kicks from Gucci, and Japanese fried chicken pants! If it’s weird and wonderful, we’ve got you covered here.
